Australia's COVID contact tracing app branded expensive 'failure'
COVIDsafe was previously touted “as essential as putting on sunscreen” by former Prime Minister Scott Morrison. But experts had questioned the efficacy of the Bluetooth-based tracking method. The app, which was first launched in April 2020 and cost $14m (£11.42m), was designed to help manual contract tracers identify positive Covid infections.

Brazilians march in defence of democracy over Bolsonaro election fears
At the university gathering, a video was shown of Brazilian artists reading out a petition "in defence of the democratic state of law." The petition has garnered more than 900,000 signatures since being posted online weeks ago. Demonstrations were also held in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Recife.
