Binance-linked blockchain hit by $570 million crypto hack, Binance says
Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao said in a tweet that tokens were stolen from a blockchain "bridge" used in the BNB Chain, which was known as Binance Smart Chain until February. Blockchain bridges are tools used to transfer cryptocurrencies between different applications. Zhao said the hackers stole around $100 million worth of crypto. BNB Chain later said in a blog post that a total of 2 million of the cryptocurrency BNB - worth around $570 million - was withdrawn by the hacker.

K-pop group BTS members face possible military conscription
South Korea's military appears to want to conscript members of the K-pop supergroup BTS for mandatory military duties, as the public remains sharply divided over whether they should be given exemptions. Lee Ki Sik, commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, told lawmakers on Friday that it's "desirable" for BTS members to fulfil their military duties to insure fairness in the country's military service.

UN body votes to establish human rights investigator for Russia
A U.N. human rights body comfortably passed a motion on Friday to appoint a new independent expert on alleged human rights abuses in Russia, accusing Moscow of creating a "climate of fear" through repression and violence. Members voted 17 in favour and six against, with 24 abstaining. The move is the first time that the Human Rights Council has set up a Special Rapporteur to examine the rights record of one of its so-called 'P5' members, which hold permanent seats on the Security Council.

India's RBI to soon commence pilot project of digital rupee
As for the concept note, it discusses key considerations such as technology and design choices, possible uses of digital rupee, issuance mechanisms, etc, the central bank said. It examines the implications of introduction of CBDC on the banking system, monetary policy, financial stability, and analyses privacy issues.

Lesotho elects new parliament amid unresolved political crisis
Lesotho citizens voted in a parliamentary election on Friday that political analysts said could see the ruling party lose power after years of political instability that the southern African mountain kingdom's lawmakers have failed to resolve. The election has gone ahead despite a deadlock in parliament on a whole gamut of major constitutional reforms that were meant to be enacted ahead of the vote in order to bring order to Lesotho's fractious politics.

Easter Island fire causes "irreparable" damage to sacred moai statues
They were carved more than 500 years ago by the indigenous Rapa Nui people, as a way to embody the spirit of their prominent ancestors. The megaliths on the island generally stand at about 4m (13ft) high and feature hidden torsos, buried beneath the earth. The moai face away from the ocean and instead towards the villages, as if to watch over its natives. However, the seven Ahu Akivi figures face out to sea, which is believed to help visitors find the island.
