German cybersecurity chief investigated over Russia ties
Germany's Interior Minister Nancy Faeser is looking to fire the chief of the federal agency responsible for cybersecurity, Arne Schönbohm, over his alleged contacts with agents of Russia's security services, Germany's newspapers reported on Sunday, citing anonymous government sources. Schönbohm is the president of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). But a recent investigation found that he was also the member of a technology association which counts as a member a German company that is a subsidiary of a Russian cybersecurity firm founded by a former KGB employee.

North Korea missile launches were 'nuclear attack drills'
Last month KimJong-un declared North Korea an "irreversible" nuclear power and revised its laws, allowing it to use nuclear weapons pre-emptively. Its previous policy had been to only use such weapons in response to an attack. It has also markedly stepped up its frequency of missile firings this year, carrying out over 40 missile launches this year so far - its most ever. Most of the launches in the past fortnight have been short-range missiles, which landed in the sea between North Korea and Japan. But North Korea also fired a longer-distance missile over Japan last Tuesday - which analysts say is a new intermediate-range ballistic missile, based on the weapon's design.

Harvey Weinstein to go on trial in Los Angeles
The start of the Los Angeles criminal trial comes five years after the first stories exposing his illicit actions against women were first published by The New York Times and The New Yorker. Those stories also helped the #MeToo movement expand, eventually taking down other powerful men in Hollywood and beyond. The 70-year-old Weinstein is already serving a 23-year sentence tied to his 2020 conviction in New York for charges of criminal sexual act and rape in the third degree.

Amazon to invest over 1 Billion euros in European electric van, truck fleet
The retailer said the investment was also aimed at spurring innovation across the transportation industry and encouraging more public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs). The US online retailer said the investment would help its electric van fleet in Europe more than triple from 3,000 vehicles to more than 10,000 by 2025.
