R'Bonney Gabriel, a fashion designer, model and sewing instructor from Texas who competition officials said is the first Filipino American to win Miss USA, was crowned Miss Universe on Saturday night.

California battles deadly storms with millions under flood watch
Around 25 million people in California are under a flood watch this weekend as the latest in a parade of deadly storms drenches the state.
Several waterways have flooded, at least 19 people have died and thousands have been told to evacuate their homes.

Over 80,000 is protest against Netanyahu government
Last week, Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin announced a series of reforms, including giving the parliament the ability to override supreme court rulings with a simple majority. In addition, politicians will have greater influence in the appointment of supreme court judges and legal advisers to ministries.
Opponents say these reforms will weaken the supreme court and undermine democracy in the country.

France, Germany push for Ethiopia war crimes justice
The ministers called for the establishment of a transitional justice mechanism to punish abuses committed during the conflict.
The ministers said “they hoped to visit parts of Ethiopia in the future where the question of accountability played a big role.”

China records around 60,000 deaths related to Covid-19 in one month
The report comes amid questions being raised over China's lack of transparency in the wake of the current Covid-19 outbreak as reports emerged of funeral homes and hospitals being overwhelmed across the country. 
Restrictions have been imposed by various countries on people travelling from China as appeals have been made that the government share more data with other countries across the world.

Russia fires new waves of missiles across Ukraine
A number of other cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa, were also hit.
Much of Ukraine is now under an emergency blackout after missiles hit power infrastructure in several cities.
Earlier, the UK said it would send Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine to help the country's defence.
