Ukraine corruption scandal: String of officials resign in Kyiv
Over the weekend, a Ukrainian newspaper investigation accused the Defence Ministry of signing off contracts to supply food to frontline troops at "two to three" times the regular price. 
The amount in question is €320 million for 2023, according to the ZN.UA news site.

UN report shows climate-related disasters as a major cause of human trafficking
In 2021 alone, climate-related disasters caused the internal displacement of more than 23.7 million people, while many others had to move abroad.
The report cites devastating typhoons in the Philippines and Bangladesh, which is particularly prone to cyclones and storms.

North Korea issues 'extreme cold' weather alert
The DPRK’s central radio broadcaster reported in the morning that northern regions are forecast to dip below -20 degrees F (-30 C). The capital city of Pyongyang reportedly reached -2 F (-19 C) earlier this morning, nearly 16 degrees F below average.
Coastal areas are also expected to see high winds, according to state media, making the icy temperatures all the more brutal.

Egypt's Sisi heads to India amid investment push
The trip will include discussions on strengthening economic relations between the two countries and reviewing opportunities for Indian investment in Egypt, a statement from the Egyptian presidency said.
Egypt is trying to drum up foreign investment as it tries to manage a dollar shortage that has led to a sharp depreciation of the Egyptian pound.

Microsoft invests billions in ChatGPT-maker OpenAI
More specifically, Microsoft wants to help accelerate OpenAI’s groundbreaking independent AI research, and build out the AI infrastructure of its cloud-based Azure platform “to help customers build and deploy their AI applications on a global scale.”
There are also plans to deploy OpenAI’s models across Microsoft’s consumer and enterprise products and incorporate new digital experiences built on OpenAI’s technology.
