Combined with the record £1.9 billion spend during the summer transfer window, Premier League clubs have splurged £2.8 billion during the 2022/23 season, a new all-time high.
Deadline-day expenditure by Premier League clubs of £275 million is also a new record for January, obliterating the previous mark.

Lebanon to devalue currency by 90% on Feb. 1, central bank chief says
The new rate marks a 90 percent devaluation from its current official rate. The shift from the old rate of 1,507 to 15,000 is still far off the parallel market, where the pound was changing hands at around 57,000 per dollar on Tuesday.

U.S. readies $2 billion-plus Ukraine aid package with longer-range weapons
The USAI funds would go toward the purchase of a new weapon, the Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb (GLSDB) made by Boeing Co, which have a range of 94 miles (150 km). The United States has rebuffed Ukraine's requests for the 185-mile (297-km) range ATACMS missile.

Italy facing attacks by international anarchists, foreign minister says
In December, a Greek anarchist group claimed responsibility for an arson attack outside an Italian diplomat's home, calling it an act of solidarity with Cospito.
Tajani called it the most serious incident to date, but reported that numerous other attacks, acts of vandalism and demonstrations have taken place since November.
Italian embassies, consulates or culture institutes have been targeted in Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Germany and Switzerland, he said.

Alec Baldwin charged for 'reckless acts' leading to 'Rust' shooting
Halyna Hutchins died on the set of Rust in New Mexico after Mr Baldwin allegedly fired a prop gun.
The film's armourer has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
The documents released on Tuesday detailing the charges - first announced on 19 January - portray a chaotic set with a reckless approach to gun safety.
