Ocean treaty: Historic agreement reached after decade of talks
The High Seas Treaty places 30 percent of the seas into protected areas by 2030, aiming to safeguard and recuperate marine nature.
The last international agreement on ocean protection was signed 40 years ago in 1982 - the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Crisis over suspected Iran schoolgirl poisonings escalates
It remains unclear who or what is responsible since the alleged poisonings began in November in the Shiite holy city of Qom. Reports now suggest schools across 21 of Iran’s 30 provinces have seen suspected cases, with girls’ schools the site of nearly all the incidents.

Britain to stop those arriving illegally from staying
The law would give powers to the home secretary to remove anyone who arrives on a small boat "as soon as reasonably practicable" to Rwanda or a "safe third country".
Arrivals would be prevented from claiming asylum while in the UK and stopped from returning once removed.
