King Charles and Queen Camilla crowned in historic ceremony
In front of a congregation of about 100 world leaders and a television audience of millions, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the spiritual leader of the Anglican Church, slowly placed the 360-year-old St Edward’s Crown on Charles’ head as he sat upon a 14th-century throne in Westminster Abbey.

Nearly 10,000 flee from Sudan to neighbouring Central African Republic
Central African Republic has many troubles of its own. The UN say more than half the population is "in need of assistance and protection." It's been enduring its own civil war for several years which has kept it amongst the ten poorest countries in the world. The UN says around 120,000 people also need food assistance there.

Donald Trump's video deposition in civil rape trial made public by court
E Jean Carroll, the journalist has accused the former president of raping her in a department store in New York in the mid-1990s. She’s suing him for battery and defamation, over comments he made while denying the claim, which she made in a book in 2019.

Ukraine war: Russia accused of using phosphorus bombs in Bakhmut
White phosphorus is a wax-like element that ignites after coming in contact with oxygen and leads to bright plumes of smoke. A warning was issued by Human Rights Watch (HRW) which stated that the chemical is "notorious for the severity of the injuries it causes".

Mexico claims proof of Chinese fentanyl smuggling
According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration, criminal groups export chemicals from China to Mexico where they are used to produce fentanyl that is smuggled across the US border. Mexico has denied that fentanyl is manufactured in its territory.

Animal tests for makeup resume after 25-year ban
Animal testing for makeup or its ingredients had been completely banned in the UK since 1998. Animal testing had only been allowed if the benefits gained from the research outweighed any animal suffering, for example for medicines.
