Hungary's healthcare system struggles as doctors leave for Western Europe
Over 800 Hungarian doctors requested a certificate to practice outside of the country last year, according to official figures, bringing the total number issued over the past decade to 8,500.
This could lead to a disastrous situation in a country with just over 33,000 doctors for a 9.7 million population, or roughly 3.5 doctors per 1,000 inhabitants — lower than the 3.9 average for the EU.

Beijing's comedy crackdown is hitting its music scene
A joke by a Chinese stand-up comedian seen to be ridiculing the military has prompted a crackdown on the country's booming comedy scene. But it hasn't stopped there. Music performances are now being targeted, hitting the country's live entertainment sector just as it recovers from years of Covid restrictions. UK mental health charities handed sensitive data to Facebook for targeted ads
It also included details of when users requested support – such as clicking a link saying “I need help” – and when they viewed webpages to access online chat tools. Some of the pages that triggered data-sharing with Facebook were aimed specifically at children, including a page aimed at 11- to 18-year-olds offering advice on suicidal thoughts.

Climate fuelled fires are forcing people to migrate in Portugal
Portugal’s typical wildfire season traditionally runs from June to September. But in 2017, high temperatures throughout the year and low rainfall in the previous spring and winter meant there were around 2,500 fires recorded in April and 3,000 in October, an indicator of how climate change is extending the fire period.

No More Secret! World's spy chiefs meet in secret conclave in Singapore
Senior officials from about two dozen of the world's major intelligence agencies held a secret meeting on the fringes of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore this weekend, five people told Reuters.
Such meetings are organised by the Singapore government and have been discreetly held at a separate venue alongside the security summit for several years, they said. The meetings have not been previously reported.
