Houston Astros beat Philadelphia Phillies to clinch World Series title
The Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 in Game 6 of the MLB World Series at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas on Saturday, winning the series 4-2 to add the second championship trophy to their honor list.
Twenty-four-year-old rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena was named the World Series Most Valuable Player, becoming the third player in any position in the major league history to earn that honor in his first year. Both of the other two were pitchers: Larry Sherry of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1959 and Livan Hernandez of the Florida Marlins (today's Miami Marlins) in 1997.

NHS nurses to hold biggest ever strike across UK within weeks
Union officials say that since the Conservatives took power in 2010, the pay of some experienced nurses has fallen by 20% in real terms. They had called for a pay award of 5% plus inflation – a total of about 15%.
But the government said the average basic annual pay for nurses would increase from about £35,600 to around £37,000 from March 2022, a rise of just 4%.
NHS bosses will be concerned that a national nurses’ strike will compound the crisis in the country’s hospitals. Figures released in October revealed that a record 7 million people were waiting for hospital treatment in England at the end of August.

Italy stops adult male migrants from disembarking
The new Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, has promised to crack down on migrants travelling across the Mediterranean from North Africa.
Italy is one of the main entry points into Europe and since the start of the year 85,000 migrants have arrived on boats, according to the UN.
Many of the migrants set sail in small boats and are rescued by charity vessels during their journey.

The plane departed from the commercial capital, Dar-es-Salaam, and “fell in the Lake Victoria this morning due to storm and heavy rains” in Bukoba.

Thousands march in Peru, demanding resignation of leftist President Castillo
Carrying the Andean nation's vertically striped red-white-red flag and signs with anti-government slogans, protesters marched towards the opposition-dominated Congress in the capital Lima.
Castillo has called those who oppose his government "reactionaries" and "the enemies of people".
Police with helmets and plastic shields launched several tear gas canisters in an attempt to disperse the crowds. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Powerball jackpot jumps to $1.9B after no ticket won Saturday's drawing
The winning Powerball numbers drawn Saturday night for the estimated $1.6 billion prize were 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and the Powerball was 20. The Powerplay was 3X.
Powerball said 16 tickets, including three sold in California, two in Colorado and Pennsylvania and one each Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York and South Dakota, won $1 million by matching all five white balls.
