Brazilian football legend Pelé dies aged 82
The player who would be dubbed “The King” was introduced to the world at 17 at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, the youngest player ever at the tournament. He was carried off the field on teammates’ shoulders after scoring two goals in Brazil’s 5-2 victory over the host country in the final.

Andrew Tate detained in Romania over rape and human trafficking case
Tate, a British-U.S. citizen who previously was banned from various social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech, was reportedly detained along with his brother Tristan in the Ilfov area north of Romania's capital, Bucharest.

Aung San Suu Kyi jailed for a further seven years
A court in military-ruled Myanmar has found the country’s toppled leader Aung San Suu Kyi guilty of corruption charges, sentencing her to seven years in prison in the last of a string of criminal cases in an 18-month-long trial process, a legal official said.
A prisoner of the military since a 2021 coup, Aung San Suu Kyi, 77, has now been convicted on every charge levelled against her, ranging from corruption to illegally possessing walkie-talkies and flouting COVID-19 restrictions.

Kabosu: Dogecoin dog makes miraculous recovery
The world first learnt of Kabosu when she went viral in 2013 in a meme. The craze soon sparked a flurry of "doge" memes - a long-ago accidental misspelling of dog amused the internet and quickly became popular.
Later that year, two programmers launched a cryptocurrency - Dogecoin - with Kabosu as its face.
It was meant to be a joke but last year, Dogecoin's value shot up by some 4,000% after Elon Musk dubbed it "the people's crypto".

NBA suspends 11 players after Pistons-Magic scuffle
The NBA suspended Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes for three games and Orlando Magic center Moritz Wagner for two games on Thursday, with nine other players handed one-match suspensions following a mass scuffle during a game a day earlier.
Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo was given a one-game ban and eight Magic players will also serve suspensions of that duration.
