Bombardment, air raid sirens mark Ukraine's start to the New Year
Russia continued intense attacks on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine early on New Year’s Day, following a barrage of missiles fired on Saturday, with air raid sirens wailing for hours overnight.
Ukraine’s Air Force command said that they had destroyed 45 Iranian-made Shahed drones — 32 of them after midnight on Sunday and 13 late on Saturday.

Canada, Australia impose COVID rules on travelers from China
In recent days, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan have also imposed either a negative result or a test upon arrival for travellers from China. Malaysia said it will screen all inbound travellers, including from China, for fever while the Philippines said it will heighten surveillance of all respiratory symptoms in passengers arriving from China.

‘Atmospheric river’ dumps heavy rain, snow across California
The so-called atmospheric river storm was pulling in a long and wide plume of moisture from the Pacific Ocean. Flooding and rock slides closed portions of roads across Northern California.
