Bolsonaro supporters in Brazil storm Presidential palace, Congress & Supreme Court
Thousands of demonstrators bypassed security barricades, climbed on roofs, smashed windows and invaded all three buildings, which were believed to be largely vacant and sit on Brasilia’s vast Three Powers Square.
Some of them called for a military intervention to either restore the far-right Bolsonaro to power, or oust Lula from the presidency.

UK becoming less attractive for investment, manufacturers warn
The survey comes as the government is poised to unveil plans for supporting business with energy subsidies beyond the end of March. Since October, energy prices have been capped for businesses to help them through the winter.
It is expected the government will cut subsidies by at least half when the new scheme starts at the beginning of April. UK Chancellor Jeremy Hunt last week said subsidies at their current level were "unsustainably expensive".

Goldman Sachs to start cutting thousands of jobs midweek
Hundreds of jobs are also likely to be cut in Goldman Sachs’ loss-making consumer business, after it has scaled back plans for its direct-to-consumer subsidiary Marcus, according to the sources.
The bank’s chief executive, David Solomon, sent a year-end voice note to staff warning of a downsizing in the first half of January, two separate sources said. Goldman Sachs declined to comment on the memo.

Battle looms as Germany sacrifices village for coal
Lützerath, in western Germany, is on the verge - literally - of being swallowed up by the massive coal mine on its doorstep.
Around 200 climate change activists, who are now all that stand in the way of the diggers expanding the Garzweiler opencast mine, have been warned that if they don't leave by Tuesday they'll be forcibly evicted.

Biden visits U.S.-Mexico border as immigration issue heats up
Joe Biden, Lopez Obrador and Justin Trudeau will hold a three day summit beginning Monday on energy, economic cooperation, immigration and drug trafficking, especially fentanyl.
Biden and his Mexican counterpart spoke briefly at the airport, without giving any statement to the press.

Dozens kidnapped waiting for train in Nigeria
Some of those who managed to flee sustained bullet wounds, eyewitnesses have been quoted as saying. One woman with a baby also reportedly escaped and found her way to a neighbouring community where she has been rescued.
The kidnappers also released two children as it was "believed that they felt the children will slow down their movements", a local resident is quoted by the Vanguard newspaper as saying.
