Paris 2024: Up to 40 countries could boycott Olympic Games
The IOC announced last week that it would "explore a pathway" to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in Paris under a neutral flag, adding that "no athlete should be prevented from competing just because of their passport".
The move prompted condemnation, with the UK Government saying the plan was a "world away from the reality of war".

Swiss prosecutors launch case over Credit Suisse dirty money data leak
The leak covered more than 18,000 accounts, including human rights abusers, fraudsters and businessmen subject to sanctions, thereby plunging Switzerland's biggest bank into a dirty money scandal.
The accounts, which were held from the 1940s to the 2010s, were leaked last February to Germany's Sueddeutsche Zeitung, which shared it with media organisations worldwide.

Chinese spy balloon flies over the United States: Pentagon
The decision not to shoot down the balloon was made because of concerns that debris could injure Americans on the ground or destroy property, according to a senior Defense Department official who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity.
The balloon was over Montana when the U.S. considered destroying it, the official said. It would be shot down if it posed a threat to civilian aviation, the official said. It is floating at an altitude where those planes do not fly.

Adani row rocks India's parliament amid financial contagion fears
The plunge has forced Adani to cede the crown of Asia’s richest person to Indian rival Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Industries Ltd, as he has slid to 17th in Forbes’ ranking of the world’s wealthiest people. He had been third, after Elon Musk and Bernard Arnault.
The prices of U.S. dollar bonds issued by group members edged higher on Friday after diving the previous day.

Nobel laureate Ebadi says Iran's 'revolutionary process' is irreversible
Iran's clerical rulers have faced widespread unrest since Mahsa Amini died in the custody of the morality police on Sept. 16 after she was arrested for wearing "inappropriate attire".
Iran has blamed Amini's death on preexisting medical problems and has accused the United States and other foes fomenting the unrest to destabilize the clerical establishment.

Mexico looks to giant solar park in the desert to assuage carbon concerns
The first power from a giant solar energy park in the desert of northern Mexico will enter the country's electricity grid in April, officials said on Thursday, as the nation aims to burnish its green credentials with the flagship project.
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has hailed the $1.6 billion project - set to be Latin America's largest solar park - as key to reaching Mexico's goal of producing at least 35% of all energy consumed from clean and renewable sources by 2024.
