Mystery sphere found on beach perplexes Japan
The find in coastal city Hamamatsu has been variously dubbed "Godzilla egg", "mooring buoy" and "from outer space" by fascinated locals.
Authorities cordoned off the area and conducted X-ray exams which did not reveal much more - other than confirming the object was safe.

Winds lash Madagascar's coast as Cyclone Freddy makes landfall
The UN's World Food Programme (WFP) said more than 2.3 million people in Madagascar could be affected by Freddy, and the cyclone would then pass through Mozambique and Zimbabwe on the African mainland.
Authorities said the island nation, which is accustomed to cyclones and tropical storms, had put measures in place to minimise the loss of lives.

Bjorn Borg leaves India event as minister runs late
Borg was to be honoured on Tuesday by Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka state, of which Bangalore is the capital.
The programme was scheduled for 9.30am but Mr Bommai arrived at 11.15am.
