Europe Heatwave: Red alerts issued in 15 Italian cities
The alerts, which indicate risks even for healthy people, apply to tourist hotspots including Rome, Florence, and Bologna for the coming days. More high temperatures are expected in Europe next week as another heatwave approaches. The European Space Agency (ESA) says Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Poland may see extreme conditions.

Torrential rain triggers deadly South Korea flooding
A third day of torrential rain has caused landslides, power cuts, and damage to infrastructure across South Korea.
Korail, the country's national rail operator, has announced the suspension of all slow trains and some bullet trains, and said other bullet train services would be disrupted.

Google's ChatGPT rival Bard launches in Europe and Brazil
Bard is now available in 27 EU countries and Brazil, as well as 40 new languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi and Spanish.
Alphabet first unveiled Bard, which relies on data from Google Search, in February, when it invited users in the United States and the United Kingdom to test the chatbot.

Nigeria's Bola Tinubu declares state of emergency over food
All water and food resources will now fall under Nigeria's National Security Council’s mandate.
